Continued Sustenance

We’ve battled hard with discouragement this week, but we’ve also had friends come alongside and encourage us – for which we are very thankful. The Lord has also uplifted us through our own prayer and studies, especially Clayton’s study of 1 Kings 19. If even Elijah could grow lonely (v10) and weary (v4) in his ministry, then we know we are not beyond temptation. Yet it was the restoration (v7) and revelation (v11-12) of Yahweh that put Elijah back on the path of ministry. Pray that we would be laser-focused on Christ and His Word, and that we would gaze beyond the earthly, into the eternal.

God is the one who called us into fellowship with Christ (1 Cor 1:9), demonstrating His all-exceeding power by making fools out of the world through the Cross (1 Cor 1:18). Having been welcomed into the Church by the pure power of God, would we dare operate within the Church in our own power? May it never be! Our power is not our own (1 Cor 1:26-19), our spiritual understanding is not our own (1 Cor 2:16), and our ministerial success is not our own (1 Cor 3:6-7). More than that: we ourselves are not our own (1 Cor 6:19).
